"Valencia beach in the morning light"

Joaquin Sorolla Y Bastida (i) - Oil On Canvas (i) - 1908 - (Hispanic Society of America (New York, United States)) (i)
Using white fabrics to reflect light upon water and making it stand out in a background of blue was something that the Spanish Impressionist, Joaquin Sorolla, had indulged in quite a bit throughout his career. Set on the titular Valencia Beach, a reluctant toddler is held against the seizing waves at the shore by a woman. His legs are curled up in fright. Four children are frolicking and resting on the shore, unafraid. On the left hand corner of the painting, the ocean and the horizon at some point blend into each other. Joaquin was a student under Emilio Sala, Jose Benlliure and Jose Cordero. They deeply inspired his techniques as a painter.
