"Le Sacre-Coeur"

Pablo Picasso (i) - 1910 - (Musée Picasso (Paris, France)) (i)
Between 1875 and 1914, Picasso labored on the top of Montmartre, Paris to paint the Basilica of “Sacré-Coeur”. Picasso was a regular spectator to the shine of white edifice, since he stayed not far from the place. The dome painted here can be identified via sketchy lines and it’s flanked by two indistinct structures. Cubism, Picasso’s signature style, can be seen reflected in the way the central elements of the painting have been treated. The planes here seem to be jutting out as if the viewer is being approached by them. When the painting was exhibited in the 1966 retrospective at the Grand Palais, Paris, Picasso still possessed it. Scholars believe that “Sacré-Coeur” is a finished painting, even though Picasso would hardly agree to that.
