Franz Xaver Winterhalter (1805-1873) was a renowned German painter and lithographer, known for his portraits of European royalty. Born in Menzenschwand, Germany, Winterhalter began his artistic training at the age of 16, studying under the guidance of portraitist Franz Joseph Stöber. In 1823, he moved to Munich and continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
