"Yellow, Red, Blue"

Wassily Kandinsky - Oil - 127 x 200 cm - 1925 - (Musée National d'Art Moderne Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris, France))

Wassily Kandisnky in "Yellow-Red-Blue", an abstract oil painting on canvas, demonstrates his detachment from the constructivism and suprematism movements prominent in that era. Geometrical rudiments took on increasing significance in both his teaching and painting. The looseness of form, colour and shape is meticulously planned to depict balance in chaos. Largely, the three primary colours, Yellow, Red, Blue and the resulting shades and hues takes the viewer on a beautiful journey of discovery. The left side of the painting involves yellows on a background of blues and purples, while the right side mirrors a completely opposite story. This transition is composed to lead the eye from the left to the right, creating movement, whilst also simultenously emphasizing on the balance between the two. This painting is currently housed at the Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France.
