Lucas Cranach The Elder (i) - Oil (i) - Northern Renaissance (i)

Amorous Old Woman and Young Man (1520-22), (Wood, 37 x 37,5 cm) is now in the Szépmûvészeti Múzeum, Budapest. Cranach painted more than a dozen portraits of non-matching couples. However, this is the only representation in which the man is the younger. The painting is not erotic rather grotesque.

Lucas Cranach The Elder, a prominent German Renaissance painter and printmaker, was born in 1472 at Kronach in upper Franconia. His exact date of birth is unknown. He learned the art of drawing from his father Hans Maler, and later developed his skills under local south German masters.
