Questo dipinto, scritto dal geniale artista spagnolo Pablo Picasso nel 1907 e divenuto un passo significativo nel percorso creativo dell'artista, determinò in gran parte il destino delle arti visive in generale.
Sebbene la tela abbia visto la luce per la prima volta solo trent'anni dopo la scrittura, è stata la porta aperta del mondo verso l'avanguardia. Dopotutto, i primi spettatori delle "Ladies" erano gli artisti dei contemporanei di Picasso: J. Braque, A. Derain, A. Matisse ... Quest'ultimo ha parlato in modo estremamente critico della tela e questo "giudizio" è profondamente personale. È possibile che l'ambizioso francese, viziato dal riconoscimento pubblico, sia semplicemente diventato geloso dell'immagine, vedendo nelle "Signore" e non nella sua "Danza" la chiave per l'ulteriore sviluppo dell'arte.
La Boemia parigina era divisa in due "campi", in uno dei quali erano "per" "Signore", l'altro - "contro". Qui Georges Braque, per esempio, apparteneva alla "destra". Divenuto uno dei "fondatori" del cubismo, insieme a Picasso passò alla fase "analitica". Paul Cezanne ha ampiamente anticipato l'approccio analitico di Picasso, portando in pittura il principio geometrico dell'interpretazione della forma. Parlando delle "Dame di Avignone" di Picasso, non si possono dimenticare le "Grandi bagnanti" di Cézanne. E questo non è l'unico prerequisito. Il canone della plastica iberica, che all'epoca era popolare tra gli artisti dell'arte arcaica, costituì la base del "periodo africano" di Picasso e fu incarnato anche in questo quadro.
L'immagine "Le signore di Avignone", o come l'autore stesso ha chiamato l'opera "Il bordello filosofico", è nata in un bordello. In questa piccante istituzione, l'artista cercava una risposta ai suoi tormenti interiori, vivendo l'estinzione dell'amore per una donna che aveva recentemente idolatrato. Le ragazze di facili costumi presero davanti a lui le pose più pittoresche, e davanti agli occhi del maestro, le loro magnifiche forme acquistarono un suono geometrico e senza vita. Sui loro volti apparivano brutte maschere, che riflettevano le anime tragiche e infelici delle "sacerdotesse" di questa istituzione non più lussuosa di Barcellona. Per circa 30 anni, l'immagine è stata disponibile per la revisione solo dei colleghi del maestro. Per il pubblico, il lavoro era troppo rivoluzionario, troppo insolito, troppo provocatorio. I colleghi hanno trattato l'opera d'arte in modo diverso: dall'ammirazione e dalle brillanti profezie alle maledizioni e al completo disprezzo.
I due noti colori del grande maestro-blu e rosa, armonizzati organicamente. Riassumendo i precedenti periodi di creatività, la dolorosa ricerca del suo particolare percorso nell'arte, l'autore irrompe con decisione in una nuova, particolare realtà artistica, negando il passato e guardando con audacia al futuro. Da questo lavoro inizia lo stesso Picasso, che il mondo intero considera il genio della pittura moderna.
Lo spettatore è ancora stupito dal coraggio e dall'espressività molto particolare che fanno dell'opera un capolavoro. Fu questo dipinto che completò la breve epoca del Fauvismo nell'arte, affermando una nuova estetica, un nuovo programma chiamato cubismo, che catturò a lungo le menti dei migliori maestri del mondo.
